LETS ENHANCE AVAILABLE LOCAL MADE TECHNOLOGIES
In the past years, it was difficult to get technologies and machinery to start a production unit. But at present there is a significant change as most technologies and machinery can be designed and manufactured by SIDO owned Technology Development Centers (TDCs) or individual clients supported by SIDO.
This was witnessed by visitors who visited SIDO pavilion during Nane Nane celebrations in Dodoma this year. The displayed machinery raised a lot of questions from some of the visitors as they showed doubt on whether the machines were locally made or imported. The answers were definitely that the machines have been designed and manufactured by SIDO TDCs and the capacity of manufacturing more is within reach.
Upon receiving those answers, visitors urged the government to strengthen SIDO and other Research and Development Institutions more in financial and capability so that they can become competitive in the area of technology and machinery and be able to substitute imported ones and save foreign currency.
Machinery focusing on processing agricultural products were tremendously and overwhelmingly ordered. This situation reveals how Tanzanians are capable in establishing small industries in order to produce products that consume locally available raw materials and create employment for their families and communities as a whole.
SIDO Technologies got an opportunity of being viewed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania who pledged to take more time in the future to visit SIDO and learn more about its activities.
