MANGO GROWERS RECEIVE TRAINING ON VALUE ADDITION
Thirty seven members of Mango Growers (Amagro) received training on value addition on mango fruits by SIDO Dar es Salaam regional office. The training was held from 20th to 27th February 2012 and it involved participants from the regions of Dar es salaam, Pwani, Morogoro and Tanga. Through this training, the participants acquire various skills of producing mango products such as mango juice, dried mango fruits and jam. At the closing ceremony, the guest of honor Mr. Said Merck Sadick, Dar es salaam Regional commissioner, argued the participants to be trustworthy to their customers by producing high quality products that will consequently improve their health and livelihood. He added that the training was so relevant as 40% of the mango fruits are wasted due to lack of skill to preserve fruits for future use. He promised cooperation with the participants in searching for a suitable premises for establishment of small processing industries. Expressing gratitude to the guest of honor, the representative of the participants said that, Amagro have 152 members with total of 2650 acres of mango trees and is currently operating in 12 regions of Tanzania mainland. The training was funded by African Development foundation.
