LOCALLY MADE MACHINES BEST IN QUALITY
It was not easy for exhibitors who visited SIDO pavilion during 36th DITF to concur with what they saw that were PRODUCTS MADE IN TANZANIA. This made them applaud SIDO for their tireless efforts of moving forward to strengthening SMEs and Tanzanian economy.
Apart from members of the public, there were many prominent guests who paid visit to SIDO pavilion. These included the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Hon. Chief Justice, Honorable Ministers, Ambassadors from various embassies and many Members of Parliament. Most people were amazed of the innovative products that were displayed at the pavilion. Majority were attracted by the oil refinery unit made by SIDO Technology Development Centre (TDC) of Iringa. This unit included all accessories such as distoner, oil expeller and filters. Other machines were Wood Planner with its accessories made by SIDO TDC Arusha, leather tanning machines with its accessories from tanning, cutting and designing from Shinyanga TDC. There were also other machines made by entrepreneurs supported by SIDO.
Other products in display were processed foods, textile, bamboo, artisan tools and hand made products. People were impressed by such big varieties of processed food that included wines made from aloevera plant, watermelon and oranges. Others were those products made from soya such as soya milk, soya yoghourt, soya sausages and soya powder.
SIDO was seen as a star in locally made machines at the 36th DITF as the displayed machines cut across all economic sectors in Tanzania. With SIDO’s strategy of One District One Product Programme (ODOP) it is easy to design machines appropriate for the products produced in a specific district and this will lead to rural industrialization.
